Architecture and Landscape Painting "Travel Impressions" in the Degewo Hochhaus Galerie

The Degewo Hochhaus Galerie presents the artist couple Liljana and Manfred Labud with their architecture and landscape paintings. In this double exhibition titled: "Travel Impressions," approximately 30 handmade architectural and landscape paper paintings by both exhibitors will be shown from August 18 to October 27, 2021. The setup of the double exhibition took place on August 18, 2021.

To the architecture and landscape painter Liljana Labud

She worked as an architect in civil engineering in Berlin during the development of Berlin's new construction areas. Even during her architecture studies, she was keen on drawing a lot. In several drawing circles, she was able to expand her skills. She was also able to participate in Plein Air (outdoor painting) trips with the Montagsmaler Biesdorf. Thus, the title of this exhibition was created: "Travel Impressions".

To the architectural and landscape draftsman Manfred Labud

The draftsman Manfred Labud was born in 1947 in Berlin near the Vinetastraße subway station in Berlin and also attended school there. He was able to study civil engineering at the TU Dresden. His work began as a traffic engineer at the project planning company of the road system of the GDR (EIBSw Berlin) and later at the successor company VAC Berlin. In 1994, he moved to the Brandenburg road construction administration. There he was able to work on the examination of road construction plans until retirement.

Manfred Labud began drawing during his school years and while studying. Initially, he would "capture" houses, castles, or squares on vacation using A3 formats in pencil and ink. In the 1980s, the color of oil pastels was added. Initially, everything was painted "on site," but today many of his drawings are also created from photos. At the start of his drawing career, he worked as a detail-oriented civil engineer (for example, he had to accurately record the number and type of all windows), and today many of his drawings in recent years have been created with broad strokes of color without the aid of contour drawing. In recent years, many watercolors on paper have also been created.

Since January 2015, he has been regularly drawing with the Biesdorf Monday Painters. During this time, he began painting with water-soluble watercolor pencils. Twice he went with his wife and many Monday Painters for plein air drawing in Hohenfinow. The houses, squares, and landscapes from his vacation trips usually form the motifs of this double exhibition. Unfortunately, the Corona period has greatly restricted painting together, according to the artist.
