Report: The Autumn Tour 2023 at the Leipzig Cotton Spinning Mill

The art world gathered on September 2 and 3, 2023, in Leipzig to experience the latest chapter of the autumn tour at the Leipzig Cotton Spinning Mill. The tour ran on Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM and on Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM, with no registration required. Journalist Diana Achtzig, known for her in-depth art reports, accompanied this event and offers an exciting insight into what visitors could expect this weekend.

The Leipzig Cotton Spinning Mill has long been a magnet for art lovers, and the 2023 autumn tour impressively confirmed this position. Here, the prejudice that "clean and classical painting is dead" was completely dispelled. Instead, the galleries of the spinning mill shone with new brilliance, proving that the world of art is still alive and vibrant.

A highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the Reiter Gallery. Here, the large-format oil pastel motifs by Mette Homar were exhibited, depicting landscapes from her walks along the Jutland coast. These captivating oil pastel motifs, which practically mesmerized the viewer, allowed visitors to immerse themselves in a world of relaxing nature from which they could hardly escape. These nature images were juxtaposed with the landscapes of Michael Canning. The concept of the art gallery was a resounding success!

The Kleindienst Gallery took a provocative approach. Here, images from the environment of porn shoots and distant, cool erotica were presented, created by the talented artist Julius Hoffmann. His works, which dealt with the horizontal trade, challenged visitors and stimulated thought. Amidst these provocative depictions, the tour became a journey through the diverse facets of contemporary art.

The 2023 autumn tour at the Leipzig Cotton Spinning Mill was a celebration of contemporary art that not only overcame prejudices but also highlighted the creative diversity of the art scene. The bright and friendly gallery spaces shone with new splendor and offered visitors a unique opportunity to experience contemporary art in all its glory. Diana Achtzig and the Art Magazine provided a fascinating insight into this artistic weekend with their coverage. And for those who missed it, the next tour on January 14, 2024 was already in prospect.
