Nathalie De Corte "On the Way to Brussels via Berlin and Liège" - Parcours d'Artistes
Welcome to my studio, where I will present my paintings, as well as those of Diana Achtzig, an artist close to the New Leipzig School. We intend to connect our two cultures through an artistic exchange project and will begin this dual Belgian-German encounter with a first exhibition as part of the Parcours d'Artistes de Sainte-Walburge. Then, in the spring of 2022, we will exhibit together in Berlin, in Diana's studio. The engagement outside the official circuit of spaces dedicated to art, yet at the center of the artistic approach, at the place of creation, appears to us as a vehicle for free dialogue. A final exhibition will take place next year in Brussels. It will be the starting point for other artists to meet through their creations and discuss their different approaches to art. The title of the exhibition can be personalized in relation to the places it names. « Being on the way » means being in motion and allowing a dialogue to gradually emerge through the impressions gathered.
Artist Statement by Nathalie De Corte
The inspiration for my paintings emerge from the realm of plants and flowers. Plants bend, flex, and seek out the most favorable position for survival. They tilt their foliage towards the sun and, when it rains, adjust to take in the exact amount of water - not too much, not too little. Though the essence of a plant remains the same, its physical shape is always adapting, fashioning itself into an ever-changing constellation, and so does my painting: my lines, like cursive writing, wrap around on themselves, returning to their origins, hiding only to emerge again in blossoms.

The contemporary painter Diana Achtzig was able to present her Pablo Picasso and animal portraits at the renowned Théâtre le Moderne and at L'atelier, Parcours d'Artistes de Sainte-Walburge - Culture Liège, in Belgium from October 22 – 24, 2021.
