After almost three years of hiatus, the Berolina Galerie in the Rathaus Mitte reopened: with abstract paintings by Diana Achtzig on ecology and climate change, inaugurated by District Mayor Stefanie Remlinger.

On April 16, 2024, at 6:30 PM, a new chapter began for an art venue in Berlin-Mitte: The Berolina Galerie on the 1st floor of the Rathaus Mitte at Karl-Marx-Allee 31 was ceremoniously reopened. Under the patronage of the district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, the artist Diana Achtzig presented her abstract paintings at the opening.

With the reopening, Diana Achtzig took on the voluntary management of the gallery. In doing so, she not only continued her own artistic work but also provided a space for other artists and initiatives to showcase their works.

"Ecology and Climate Change": abstract painting by Diana Achtzig

The opening exhibition showcased a retrospective of Diana Achtzig's work from April 16 to May 22, 2024. The focus was on climate change and its impact on people. Achtzig paints on recycled canvases and paper; thus, the material itself becomes part of her commitment to the environment.

The abstract paintings invited reflection and conversation on current environmental issues. The reopening was not only a new beginning for the gallery but also a contribution to the discussion on the environment and sustainability in art.
