A journey through birth, death, and the in-between
The solo exhibition "TRANSIENCE – Of Transience and Movement" by the painter and sculptor Dhira Sarah Barein invited visitors on a journey through the fundamental stages of life: birth, death, and the relentless movement in between. An endless dance between these poles, a fleeting encounter with time in constant change.
The exhibition began with the vernissage on March 1, 2024, at the Kunstgalerie Berlin Achtzig in Berlin-Biesdorf. Visitors could see the works until April 4, 2024.
Figures in Motion, Sound Full of Lightness
In the gallery, visitors were greeted by a variety of works on the theme of transience and movement. The figures on the canvases seem to come alive as soon as the gaze captures their movement. The clay sculptures, usually heavy and static, have also been set in motion by the artist: she captures the moment when the heavy material exudes lightness and grace.
The exhibition was an ode to the flow of life. Every encounter, with a person or a moment, appears as a unique dance, characterized by change and transience, and as an invitation to see the beauty in the flow of life.
From Graz to the world
Dhira Sarah Barein was born in Graz and grew up in an artist family. Until the birth of her two children, the world was her home: From India, her travels took her to many countries, always accompanied by large suitcases in which her paintings had a permanent place. She lived, among other places, in Barcelona, in South America, and on Ibiza, preparing new exhibitions at each location.
She spent several years on Ibiza; her clients included well-known musicians and hotels. Her versatility knew almost no bounds: She illustrated fairy tales, designed CD covers and T-shirts, decorated yoga centers, painted garage doors and walls, created portraits and oil paintings, and painted huge canvases with fluorescent colors for clubs and events.
"Leave this world a little more beautiful than you found it"
This motto runs through all the works of Dhira Sarah Barein. Her style combines traditional oil painting with modern figurative art; her paintings combine timeless elegance with an atmosphere of movement and change.
For her, art is not just a profession, but a way of life. "TRANSIENCE" invited us to recognize the beauty in change, to reconcile with transience, and to find beauty in every moment. More about the vernissage on the Achtzig Galerie website.
