The opening on June 11 and 12, 2022
On two days, from 10 AM to 6 PM, the art gallery Berlin Achtzig opened its new spaces at Weißenhöher Straße 14 in Berlin-Biesdorf. The works of the painter Diana Achtzig were on display:
- abstract oil paintings
- animal portraits
- watercolors with erotic motifs and nudes
All art enthusiasts were invited, from neighbors in Biesdorf to buyers and collectors, as well as artists, photographers, graphic designers, musicians, writers, podcasters, and journalists. Guests enjoyed free refreshments, music, parking, and a dog playground.
The Essentials in Brief
- Since June 2022, the art gallery Berlin Achtzig is located at Weißenhöher Straße 14 in Berlin-Biesdorf.
- The reason for the move was the significantly increased commercial rents in the city center.
- The new concept focuses on female artists, commission-based sales, and digital marketing.
Why did the gallery move?
Before the move, the gallery was located in the city center, first on Brunnenstraße in Mitte, and finally on Hagenauer Straße in Prenzlauer Berg. During the Corona pandemic, commercial rents rose sharply in Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte, and Charlottenburg. Therefore, Diana Achtzig searched for new spaces and found them in Biesdorf in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district.
She did not want to move her gallery entirely to the internet. In her experience, high-priced artworks cannot be sold online alone. Therefore, the on-site exhibitions remain the centerpiece, complemented by a large digital component.
The new concept: female artists, commission and digital marketing
With the restart, the gallery's program also changed:
- Focus on female artists: The gallery increasingly showcases abstract female artists from Berlin as well as international acrylic and oil painters.
- Sale on commission: The works are sold on a commission basis.
- Digital marketing: Podcasts, videos, and photos from the gallery make the exhibitions known online and document them.
