The exhibition "Vielfalt"

From March 22 to May 24, 2022, the Degewo Hochhaus Galerie on Raoul-Wallenberg-Straße in Berlin-Marzahn showcased acrylic paintings by Renate Stemmler and Karin Marschke. The exhibition featured landscapes, lakes, gardens, and beach motifs, sometimes painted realistically, sometimes more freely.

The artists about their exhibition

Renate Stemmler and Karin Marschke describe the idea behind "Vielfalt" as follows:

"The diversity that we encounter in our daily lives inspires us in painting to create our pictures in various techniques, colors, shapes, and motifs in a diverse and varied manner.

With our pictures, we want to express moods, dreams, wishes, and memories, evoke them in the viewer, and captivate them. In each of our pictures, we make our individual and different painting styles recognizable and clear.

Although we have already experimented with various techniques, we both prefer to work with acrylic paints, and it brings us great joy to depict the most diverse motifs realistically or abstractly and to use the diversity of colors."

The painters

Renate Stemmler

Renate Stemmler grew up in Niederlausitz and has lived in Berlin-Biesdorf since 1972. Professionally, she worked in the social sector. She painted her first acrylic painting in an art class during a rehab, and since January 2012 she has been part of the Montagsmaler in Biesdorf. After acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and chalk, she now focuses on landscapes in acrylic on paper and canvas. She also enjoys experimenting with pouring, a pouring technique where liquid acrylic paints flow into each other on the canvas.

Karin Marschke

Karin Marschke has lived in Berlin-Marzahn since 1981. She came to painting late and rather by chance. Through her friend Renate Stemmler, she joined the Montagsmaler at the Biesdorf community center, of which she has been a permanent member ever since. She paints in acrylic on paper and canvas, preferring landscapes, flowers, vacation motifs, as well as winter and summer moods.

The Montagsmaler group meets at the Biesdorf community center (Alt-Biesdorf 15, 12683 Berlin). There, newcomers paint together with trained artists.
