Two painters from the Montagsmaler Biesdorf

Renate Stemmler and Karin Marschke both paint in the Monday Painters Group at the Biesdorf Neighborhood Center (Alt-Biesdorf 15, 12683 Berlin), which was then led by Andre Zweigert. There, painters continually advance their skills: newcomers meet trained artists and make connections together in Biesdorf. You can learn more about the group in the article Group Exhibition of the Monday Painters Biesdorf.

Renate Stemmler: Landscapes and Pouring

Renate Stemmler was born and raised in Niederlausitz. Since 1972, she has lived with her family in Berlin-Biesdorf. She worked in the social sector and dedicated her retirement to her greatest hobby, creative design. In a painting course at a rehabilitation clinic, she painted her first acrylic painting and decided to delve deeper into acrylic painting. In January 2012, she joined the Montagsmaler, who initially met weekly at Schloss Biesdorf and later at the community center.

For a long time, she worked with acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and chalk, but today she focuses on landscapes in acrylic on paper and canvas. She also enjoys experimenting with pouring, acrylic pouring: the colors are kept fluid with an additive and blend into each other when she moves the painting surface or blows the paint. Since the time of reunification, she has combined her love for the Spanish language with painting trips. She has been friends with Karin Marschke for a long time, and later she also joined the Montagsmaler.

Karin Marschke: Landscapes, Flowers, and Holiday Motifs

Karin Marschke has lived in Berlin-Marzahn since 1981. She only came to painting around 2016, rather by chance, and became a permanent member of the Montagsmaler at the Biesdorf district center. She paints with acrylic on paper and canvas. Her subjects are landscapes, flowers, holiday memories, as well as winter and summer impressions. She regularly exhibited with the painting group in Marzahn-Hellersdorf.

The exhibition in the Degewo Hochhaus Galerie

Art marketing by gallerist Diana Achtzig

Since April 2020, the painter and sculptor Diana Achtzig, a graduate of the University of the Arts Berlin, has been leading the Degewo Hochhaus Galerie. She succeeded Kristina Schrandt, who previously worked as an editor at DEFA, and also took over the art marketing and public relations of the gallery.

She brings experience: Starting in 1990, she managed her first gallery in Amsterdam as a PR and media consultant. Later, the Achtzig Galerie für zeitgenössische Kunst, the Berlin Produzentengalerie, and the Achtzig Kunstakademie Berlin were added.
