Personal development as the theme of the oil paintings

Personal development, self-realization, and resilience shape the oil paintings of Anton Van De Amoste. The Alessandro Abadetto Galerie Berlin consciously places these themes at the center of its program, for artists as well as art buyers. Together with the painter Diana Achtzig, Anton Van De Amoste has developed them further, expanding them to include self-responsibility and the development of consciousness in animals and humans. You can read more about the gallery's concept in the article Personal Development and Self-Realization in the Alessandro Abadetto Galerie Berlin.

The Essentials in Brief

  • From July 1 to 31, 2021, the Alessandro Abadetto Galerie Berlin showcased around 25 informal oil paintings by Anton Van De Amoste.
  • His themes are personal development, self-realization, resilience, self-responsibility, and consciousness development.
  • He studied at the University of the Arts Berlin, diploma in 1999, master student in 2002.
  • Typical are fine lines, bright pastel tones, and underwater worlds with playful fish creatures.

The Own Path: Studies at the Universität der Künste

His own personal development began with his studies. Art was more important to him than his parents' expectations, and to succeed in his studies, he needed perseverance. In 1993, he applied with his portfolio to the Universität der Künste Berlin. This was followed by an artistic aptitude test with practical tasks and several interviews before he was accepted. He graduated with a diploma in 1999, and in 2002 as a master student. He also had to work hard for later collaborations with galleries.

Network and Collectors: the Path to a Career

On his own initiative, he visited galleries every week and made his first contacts, such as with the gallerist Diana Achtzig. He exhibited in group exhibitions with other artists and found new galleries through this. This way, he came to private sales exhibitions with collectors in Zurich. The Dutch gallerist Martin Meier and the collector Steinbach also acquired works for their collections.

How networking and self-marketing are connected is also described in the article SELF-Marketing for Your Own Personality.

Fine Lines and Underwater Worlds

At first glance, the images may remind one of the action painting of Jackson Pollock, the figures of Keith Haring, or the colorful figures of Niki de Saint Phalle. But Anton Van De Amoste takes his own path: With delicate lines, he traces the lightness of life. He contrasts opaque, mixed color surfaces with subdued tones. This creates translucent fish in light pastel colors and abstract beings with smiles and curious eyes, immersed in a mysterious underwater world of light and shadow.

The Alessandro Abadetto Gallery Berlin

At the time of the exhibition, the Alessandro Abadetto Galerie had its rooms at the Kindervereinigung Berlin e.V. in Freiastraße 1 in Berlin-Lichtenberg. There, at the end of 2021, it also showcased animal portraits by Diana Achtzig, more about this in the article Animal Portrait Painter Diana Achtzig in the Alessandro Abadetto Galerie.
