An online gallery exhibition

Under the title "Digital Gallery Art Exhibition of Contemporary Art," Achtzig Galerie Berlin showcased figurative and abstract contemporary art online from November 26 to December 26, 2020, for collectors, art enthusiasts, journalists, and friends of the gallery.

The Essentials at a Glance

  • The digital group exhibition ran from November 26 to December 26, 2020.
  • Guests included Sabukoschek and Wagner from Austria, as well as the Berlin illustrator Friedel.
  • Additionally, eight artists from the permanent gallery program displayed their works.
  • Featured were painting, drawing, graphics, photography, and sculpture.

Sabukoschek: Painting and Experimental Film

The Austrian painter Sabukoschek has been living as a freelance artist in Berlin since 2019. She is represented by art historian Paulina Tsvetanova in her online gallery Paulina & Friends. In addition to painting, she works with experimental film, performance, and conceptual art, and has shown her films at the KitKat Club Berlin, among other venues.

In her series "Different Faces," she experiments with various media. Her theme is gender roles and sexuality in Western society. Her abstract to slightly figurative paintings dissolve classical male and female figures, colors, and shapes, showcasing the diversity of genders. During the Corona period, she became aware of how much physical and emotional closeness is a basic need.

Wagner: Color Dynamics from Vienna

The land of coffee houses also has great art to offer. The figurative painter Wagner from Vienna studied painting at the Vienna Art School with Fritz Martinz and Gerda Matejka-Felden alongside his training at the "Graphische". With his "Künstleratelier Wagner und Kreativ-Agentur", he designed his exhibitions over the years.

In his paintings, a Viennese perspective, dynamic colors, as well as drip and run traces merge. He uses light moods and color effects with great precision to create a special atmosphere and evoke subtle emotional messages. His associative world of images is full of contradictory feelings and can also be disturbing. He regularly exhibits in Vienna and Berlin.

Friedel: Watercolors about Wall and Dementia

The Berlin illustrator and painter Friedel presented a calendar at the Frankfurt Book Fair and showcased her watercolors at Café Sanddorn. She taught art therapy at a neighborhood center.

Her series "Berlin Trilogy" (2007) deals with the insular position of West Berlin and the opening of the Wall. It shows her personal view from West Berlin, where the heavily guarded border left a feeling of lack of freedom. The opening of the Wall in 1989 brought back the hope for freedom.

Her watercolors "Emotional Threads" (2016) emerged from her involvement in a dementia living community. As the disease progresses, emotions become particularly important for the residents, and art therapy and physical closeness help to reach them. During the Corona period, this was hardly possible, but before that, Friedel captured special everyday moments in watercolor. From this emerged a calendar and an illustrated book.

In addition to the guests, the gallery showcased works from its permanent program:

  • Hanna Albrecht

The Berlin Produzentengalerie continues to accept applications from artists. How to do this can be read in the article The Produzentengalerie Berlin is looking for artists.
